Why are we building?
1) For continued service to Miami University and the Greater Oxford community
In 2001, we moved our operations to a 5800 square foot facility on Wells Mill Drive. We rented the space from Miami University. Our non-renewable lease at Wells Mill expires at the end of 2019.
After considering a variety of options, the Board of Directors believed that owning our building was in the best interest of our members. We recognized that finding a single location large enough to meet all our needs was neither practical nor financially feasible. Therefore, constructing a new building and keeping the College Corner Pike location was the best option.
Since 2001, we’ve grown significantly in membership size, asset size and employee head count. In 2011, we added our facility on College Corner Pike to meet our growing needs and better serve those utilizing the US 27 North area. That building is too small to accommodate the entire staff and equipment now needed to run our business.
The Lynn Street site is a very convenient location that will serve our members well. This new 5200 square foot facility will be our primary, full-service retail hub, with enhanced lobby services and a modern two-lane drive-through.
2) For the Credit Union's long-term financial health
We are building to ensure our future without the burden of a leased facility. The Lynn Street building is mortgage free and the new building project should not impact our member’s savings or loan rates.
While the new Lynn Street office will become our primary retail hub, the College Corner Pike office will house back office administrative staff and provide basic retail services.
3) For sustainable growth
Having two locations that we own will afford us the opportunity to have uninterrupted growth and prosperity. Also, having locations in two of the primary commercial areas in Oxford will provide maximum member convenience and help meet the needs of the Miami University and greater Oxford communities.
